Commenting on Perth Zoo's animal care and welfare standards, the Executive Director of the Australasian Zoo and Aquarium Association, Chris Hibbard said:

"I can confirm that Perth Zoo has successfully been assessed under the rigorous ZAA Positive Welfare Accreditation program and is a Full Institutional Member of the Association, which is the peak body for zoos and aquariums in Australasia.
