Welcome to Perth Zoo

Red Panda Network (RPN) is committed to the conservation of wild red pandas and their habitat through the education and empowerment of local communities.

They are a world leader in efforts to save red pandas and their habitat, and their conservation programs extend to over one million acres of forest and 50% of Nepal’s red panda range!

We have supported RPN to monitor and protect red panda habitats and educate communities in Nepal’s Panchthar, Ilam, Taplejung, Solukhumbu, Khotang and Bhojpur districts.

We also support their Restoring Red Panda Habitat in Eastern Nepal project, to restore and reconnect fragmented habitats so red pandas and other wildlife can move between Nepal and India, construct conservation nurseries, and build a sustainable supply of native seedlings for reforestation.

Perth Zoo takes a holistic approach to conservation and recognises the importance of capacity building and community education. That’s why we also support RPN’s work to promote sustainable livelihoods for the people who live alongside red pandas and increase community engagement in conservation.

RPN’s critical conservation efforts not only protect red pandas, but also a range of endangered species that share the same habitats.
