Give to Perth Zoo
Help create a future where wildlife and humanity thrive together
Every animal at Perth Zoo represents a much larger story; one that extends beyond our gates into the wild landscapes of Western Australia. From restoring populations of threatened native species to educating future generations, our work is focused on giving wildlife the best possible chance to survive and thrive.
When you support a program at Perth Zoo, your support directly benefits the animals in our care, vulnerable native species, and the WA community. Your contribution helps us do more of what we are most proud of: our animal care through our wildlife veterinary hospital, education programs and conservation science.
WHAT YOUR SUPPORT MAKES POSSIBLE
Your generosity supports vital work that improves the lives of animals in our care and contributes to the protection and recovery of species in the wild.
Conservation Science
+ About
Protecting species at risk
Western Australia is home to an extraordinary range of wildlife, much of it found nowhere else on earth. Many native species are under increasing pressure from habitat loss, climate change and disease.
Perth Zoo plays a critical role in conservation science, focusing on applied research and recovery programs that have real‑world outcomes for threatened species. Central to this is our Native Species Breeding Program, which supports breed‑for‑release efforts designed to rebuild wild populations and reduce extinction risk.
Your support helps expand our capacity. This means:
- More specialised food (one Numbat eats around 20,000 live termites a day!)
- Specialised breeding environments like new underground Numbat chambers to protect young joeys
- More equipment such as incubation units and animal transport and monitoring equipment
- More genetic health and diversity assessments for breeding animals
Conservation Education
+ About
Inspiring care and action
Long‑term protection of wildlife depends on understanding, and informed action. Perth Zoo’s education programs help people — especially young people — connect with animals and learn how everyday choices can make a difference for species and habitats.
Delivered both at the Zoo and across Western Australia, our programs reach more than 44,000 children and young people each year, building knowledge and compassion that supports wildlife well beyond a single visit.
Your support helps:
- Provide engaging learning experiences that foster care for animals and ecosystems
- Equip young people with practical ways to protect wildlife
- Extend conservation education to regional and remote communities
