Get a Ride

For further information on Transperth timetables and prices please call Transperth information on 13 62 13 or visit transperth.wa.gov.au and use “Perth Zoo” as a destination or departure landmark.

By Bus

Routes 30 & 31 run between Perth Busport (on Wellington St), Elizabeth Quay Bus Station and Perth Zoo’s entrance [stop #11847]. Buses on these routes are low-floor/accessible.

We recommend boarding at Elizabeth Quay Bus Station for the fastest journey between the Perth CBD and the Zoo (6 mins).

By Train

Joondalup or Mandurah Lines - Get off at Elizabeth Quay Train Station and transfer to the Elizabeth Quay Bus Station (next door) to catch Route 30 or 31.

Midland, Armadale, Thornlie & Fremantle lines – Get off at Perth Train Station and transfer to the Perth Busport (next door) to catch Route 30 or 31.

By Ferry

Ferries depart from Elizabeth Quay Jetty (Perth CBD) every 15 minutes daily (September to June) or every 30 minutes daily (June to September). Journey time is approximately 10 minutes.

Perth Zoo is a 500m walk from the Mends Street Jetty (South Perth) via shops and restaurants.

By Taxi

Tell your driver to take you to “Perth Zoo”. They’ll drop you right at the Zoo entrance. (If they need a street address, it’s 20 Labouchere Road, South Perth).

Drive Yourself and Parking

The Zoo is only a five-minute drive from Perth’s city centre. Take the Mill Point Road freeway exit-ramp from both the north and south direction.

There is a range of paid, timed parking around Perth Zoo. Click here for more information on parking options.

BYO & Chartered Bus: The safest way to drop students off is to enter the carpark off Mill Point Road and drive along the access road (10km/hr) and pull into a temporary bus bay to unload. Charter buses can then proceed to exit onto Labouchere Road and BYO buses can circle the block and park in the (free, limited) bus parking in the Mill Point Road parking area.

Hoof it!

By Bicycle, Scooter, Blades or on Foot

Safe, dual-use paths (cycle and walking) circle the Swan River from the CBD to South Perth and then it is only 500m from the river up to Perth Zoo.

This site provides maps and information on the network of cycle/walking paths which will get you to and from Perth Zoo (you will need to zoom in to see the pathways clearly).

Free bicycle racks are available just outside the Zoo. We recommend a lock for your bicycle since it’s a busy, public place. (Please note that you cannot take your bicycle, rollerblades, skateboard or other forms of personal transport into Perth Zoo)
