Our education programs are tailored for students from Kindergarten through to Year 6 with clear links to the Western Australian curriculum.

Gwabba Boodja
In this fun and interactive experience, students learn about the six Noongar seasons and the changing bushland habitat.
Through story and role play, students explore how the seasons are linked to animal behaviour and ways that we can care for Country.

Overview
Gwabba Boodja engages Kindy to Years 2’s in a celebration of Noongar knowledge and how as the original custodians, the Noongar people have cared for this land for thousands of years.
During this 45-minute experience students;
- Are introduced to the six Noongar seasons and how they provide an understanding of the bush
- Investigate specific animals from the South West using their Noongar names
- Explore animal behaviours during different seasons through role play
- Discuss ways that we can care for Country

Habitat Heroes
Empower your students to take action for conservation whilst exploring wildlife habitats and their threats.
- Suitable for Kindy to Year 6
- Kindy to Year 2 will participate in a special Gruffalo version of Habitat Heroes, focusing on reptiles and wetland species.
- Approximately a 60-minute experience for Kindy to Year 2 and a 90-minute experience for Years 3-6

Overview
Habitat Heroes engages students from Kindy to Year 6 in hands-on, skill-based learning. Throughout this experience, your students will;
- Discover the variety of wildlife habitats around the world
- Visit animal exhibits to watch how they interact with their habitat
- Learn skills to carry out a habitat survey
- Delve into threats of wildlife and habitat and discover ways to help local wildlife
- Connect to local species during a special close-up encounter with a local lizard
This program is suitable for all year levels and abilities. Sessions will be multi-level and easily adaptable to suit the participating year level.

Happy, Healthy and Thriving
Keeping healthy is an important part of life! This program looks at how we, humans, keep our whole bodies healthy on the inside and outside as well as highlighting the importance of keeping our minds healthy too.
Using multiple zoo animals as examples, the program will make links between the ways we keep healthy and how the animals at the zoo are cared for by the keepers and vets.
- Suitable for Kindy to Year 6
- Approximately a 45-minute experience for Kindy to Year 2 and a 60-minute experience for Years 3-6

Overview
Happy, Healthy & Thriving engages students from Kindy to Year 6 through a multisensory approach with captivating footage from our keepers and incredible items to interact with and investigate.
This 45-minute experience will take place in a Discovery Room and your students will;
- Investigate the many ways we care for animals at the Zoo and the similarities and differences with their own person healthcare
- Be surprised to learn of some of the important vet work that happens onsite
- Have fun determining what mystery health care items are and the who, how and why they are used at the zoo
- Share interesting findings with the class
This program is suitable for all year levels and abilities. Sessions will be multi-level and easily adaptable to suit the participating year level.

Wild Features
Work together using scientific and observation skills, to delve into the world of classification and adaptions.
Wild Features – Classification: Investigate the animals of the Australian Wetlands to identify and classify the different species.
Wild Features – Adaptation: Investigate the world of African animal adaptations to find answers as to why animals look and behave the way they do.

Overview
Wild Features engages students in Years 3 to 6, encouraging them to work together using scientific and observation skills, to delve into the world of classification and adaptions.
Wild Features – Classification: Investigate the animals of the Australian Wetlands to identify and classify the different species. Throughout this 60-minute experience your students will;
- Refresh their knowledge on features of different animals
- Investigate features of wetland bird species to classify them
- Use scientific skills to observe birds and record their findings
Wild Features – Adaptations: Why does it look like that? Why do they do that? Investigate the world of African animal adaptations to find answers as to why animals look and behave the way they do. Throughout this 60-minute experience your students will;
- Refresh their knowledge on features of different animals
- Understand that features are adaptation that help an animal to survive
- Use scientific skills to observe structural and behavioural animal adaptations and record their findings

Wild Protectors
Students will walk in the boots of rangers from Asia or Africa to understand the very important work these wild protectors of the animals and habitats undertake.
- Suitable for Years 4 to 6
- Approximately a 90-minute experience

Overview
Wild Protectors engages upper primary students in a session that weaves real world examples into whole class learning and small group activities that all lead to crucial conservation wins in the wild.
Throughout this 90-minute experience your students will;
- Look in depth at the Asian Rainforest or African Savannah through the eyes of those that are employed to care for it.
- Visit animals from the focus habitat to become more aware of the different threats wildlife face.
- Learn the role of a ranger by undertaking certain responsibilities akin to those carried out in the wild.
- Discover how action on the ground can assist to build populations and care for habitats.

Zoo Fest - Creature Quest!
Come along to a fun day at Perth Zoo to celebrate the end of another great year!

Overview
Bring your class and join our creature quest!
- Start the day in our theatre for a presentation about some of our amazing conservation work.
- Join us for a guided, interactive walk through our savannah where our education team will quiz students about some weird and wonderful facts about our African animals.
- Have an up-close meet and greet with an animal friend!
Your class will be given a timetable for the day, but don’t worry, there will also be time to explore the Zoo to visit all your favourite animals.
