Three new board members, including a new Chairman, have been appointed to the Zoological Parks Authority (ZPA).
Mr Grant Robinson will lead the ZPA Board as Chairman. He has expertise in a broad range of industry sectors including business, not-for-profit and government organisations and is a former deputy Chair of the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority.
Mr Robinson will be supported by Mr Alex Lamond who has been announced as Deputy Chair. Mr Lamond has been a member of the ZPA Board since 2012.
The other two new board appointees are Ms Di Bain, who has more than two decades of experience in the communications industry, and Mr Jamie Fini, current Managing Director of FJM Property Perth.
Comments attributed to Environment Minister Stephen Dawson:
“These new board members bring a wealth of experience and a diverse skillset to the Zoological Parks Authority.
“They are joining the ZPA at a significant moment in the Perth Zoo’s 121-year history as it embarks on a 20-year master plan to evolve and grow this West Australian icon.
“It is a time of excitement and innovation, and Mr Robinson, Ms Bain and Mr Fini along with the support of the other ZPA Board members, will be instrumental in ensuring Perth Zoo maintains its status as a world-leading conservation zoo, whilst delivering more for wildlife, the people of Perth and visiting tourists.
“Perth Zoo is the custodian of some of the rarest animals on the planet, it welcomes over 700,000 visitors annually, conducts scientific research to safeguard species and habitats and breeds animals for wild release.
“This makes it a unique and complex commercial conservation attraction, and I congratulate the new ZPA Board members who will help guide its future.”
