Christmas has come early to Perth Zoo and we’re feeling tree-mendously festive!

The Goodfellow’s Tree Kangaroos, Asian Small-clawed Otters and Pygmy Marmosets have all been given holiday-themed enrichment as we countdown to the big day.

The otters feasted on a seafood spread fit for any Aussie Christmas lunch – they opened their presents and tucked into fresh prawns, mussels and more!

Meanwhile the Goodfellow’s Tree Kangaroos chowed down on pumpkin and beetroot ‘candy canes’, and the tiny Pygmy Marmosets found a forest of Christmas trees decorated with grapes and shredded coconut!

Enrichment is a great way for animals to utilise their natural instincts or practise problem solving for a tasty reward. Clever enrichment provides Perth Zoo’s animals with an ever-changing habitat to ensure no two days are ever the same. Their dedicated keepers love to get extra creative this time of year and add a fun Christmas twist.

Don't forget,  Perth Zoo is open every day of the year from 9:00am – 5:00pm, including Christmas Day.

Our beautiful new café Habitat will be serving up some Christmas lunch favourites like seafood platters, roast turkey and Christmas pudding. Habitat café will be open 11:00am–3:00pm. Bookings are not required.
