Perth Zoo has always been a place where the wild things are, but we turned it up a notch this Book Week!

Our Zoo-per crew donned their bear-y best costumes to bring beloved book characters to life, with more than 44 schools joining us on our wild adventure across the week.

We caught the Gruffalo exploring our leafy grounds, and Gandalf the Grey was spotted guarding the entry to our koi pond!

The magic didn’t stop there, with special storytelling sessions by Western Australian wildlife authors Helen Milroy and Sandee Banks, and Perth Zoo Docents.

Sandee delighted audiences with her book Your Heart and Mine about a special Zebra named Zeb, who goes on a wild adventure to discover other creatures who's hearts beat just like his own.

Helen shared her three beautifully illustrated children's books Backyard BirdsWilly-willy Wagtail, and Wombat, Mudlark & other stories, teaching visitors all about our wondrous native animals.

While it was rhinormous fun, stories help us to understand the real-life conservation challenges faced by wildlife today.

Books can inspire us to love animals, and we want to protect what we love!

PLUS, the more we know about nature, the more we can appreciate the amazing wildlife all around us.

It's safe to say, this Book Week was a chapter we will never forget!

Perth Zoo is open EVERY day, with range of unique and wild events all throughout the year.
