Our primate pals are critically endangered, which is why we support a Jungle School in Sumatra to teach orphaned and ex-pet trade orangutans the skills they need to thrive in the wild!
We are also the ONLY zoo in the world to have released some back to protected pockets of the Sumatran jungle, through our world-renowned breeding program.
But we don’t just drop them off with a sleeping bag and a packet of trail-mix! Hundreds of preparation hours go into releasing an orangutan to the wild.
