Engage your budding nature explorers in exciting hands-on activities to uncover the incredible world of wildlife.
Wild Explorers is a term-based program which will:
- spark curiosity in children
- encouraging them to explore and play
- engage their senses to bring the wonders of wildlife to life.
Through interactive leader led learning, and self-led nature-based play, children will develop a love of nature and learn conservation actions they can take to look after wildlife and habitats.
Important Information
- The program has been developed for 2-3 year olds.
- Each term we will explore a new topic and different animals.
- All activities will be hands-on, skill based, interactive, immersive and fun!
2025
Term 2 – Look like an Animal – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

Become an echidna sniffing for ants, or a sun bear scratching at a beehive for honey as we learn how animals use their features to survive.
- Discover what features we have in common with animals.
- Explore how animals use these features in the wild.
Term 3 – Live like an Animal – Monday-Thursday
Trees, burrows, nests and rocks; there are so many different types of animal homes.
- Explore the Zoo in search of different places animals live and learn how these homes are built.
- Forage for materials which animals may use to build their comfy house.
Term 4 – Hide like an Animal

Could you spot a Tawny Frogmouth hiding against the bark of a tree, or a stripy tiger hiding behind bamboo?
- Discover fascinating colours and patterns of animals and how they help them hide in their environment.
- Search through nature to see what colours and patterns you find and what animals you can spot camouflaging.

Term 1 – Move like an Animal 
Some animals fly, others climb or swim.
- Get your body moving like an animal.
- Discover why and how animals move the way they do.

+ Can I book my younger/older child into a program that is for a different age range?
Unfortunately we are unable to accept bookings for children outside of the recommended age range for the chosen Kids and Youth Programs. There are a lot of factors that our expert Zoo educators, zoo keepers and veterinary staff consider when developing these unique, fun and educational experiences to not only ensure our animal residents are safe, comfortable and happy, but that the educational experiences are age and school year appropriate.
+ Can I change the date of my booking?
Yes, you may change the day of your booking a minimum of 7 days before the original booked date. You can do this by logging into the Perth Zoo account used to purchase the ticket. Select ‘Your Purchases’, then click ‘Change Booking’ and select a new day to attend.
+ Is there a waitlist for fully booked sessions?
There is no waiting list for our Kids and Youth Programs . If there are cancellations, the tickets will be re-released on our website. So keep an eye on our website for any updates.
+ My child can no longer attend, can I get a refund?
Tickets to attend our Kids and Youth Programs are non-refundable. Please ensure you have chosen the correct date and program for your child when booking. A no show on the day will result in the ticket being forfeited.
+ What does my child need to bring?
Please make sure your child is wearing enclosed shoes and weather appropriate clothing such as a hat, jacket and raincoat. Also pack a water bottle, morning tea and lunch to keep tummies from rumbling.
