Perth Zoo is overjoyed to introduce our bouncing baby Bolivian Squirrel Monkey!

This little bundle of joy was born to mum Reina about two months ago and has been growing more confident every day.

Under the watchful eye of our dedicated animal carers, mum and bub have been doing well and other females have taken on their natural 'aunty' roles to help raise him.

Now, as he gets more independent, visitors will be delighted to see him getting up to cheeky monkey business and swinging through the habitat as he explores.

To celebrate this special addition, we're calling for the community's help vote for the perfect name for the boy!

Our keepers have picked out some of their favourite names to pay homage to the native language in Bolivia, Aymara, but need help to choose the perfect one. Details can be found online here.

The birth of this pint-sized primate represents an important conservation success for Perth Zoo, but also a very special outcome for our Bolivian Squirrel Monkey group!

As a social primate, having babies adds a special dynamic to the group. Other females or 'aunties' will build relationships with the baby and take them on adventures and sometimes even nurse.

Last year, the group welcomed two new babies, Inti and Brinco, who have now reached one year old. The pair of youngsters are keeping the fresh newborn on his toes with lots of monkey business!
