- First suite of Perth Zoo Master Plan projects opens to public
- Major developments underpinned by Cook Government $51 million investment
- Another key milestone reached as Perth Zoo approaches its 125th birthday
Perth Zoo's brand new café precinct, playground and function centre is officially open for business.
Today's opening marks the first official project completed as part of Perth Zoo's ambitious Master Plan, which was underpinned by a $51 million investment from the Cook Government.
The new state-of-the-art facilities will transform how visitors enjoy Perth Zoo, creating a hive of activity in the heart of South Perth.
Nestled in the middle of the Zoo, the café precinct contains three outlets to suit all visitors, including dine-in and takeaway, as well as a coffee and wine bar. All three outlets are situated next to the new expansive playground.
Guests can enjoy a sit-down meal at 'Habitat', pick up grab-and-go food and drink items from 'Wagtails', or purchase barista-made coffee or an alcoholic beverage from 'Distil and Brew'.
And, with its own private entrance off Labouchere Road, function space 'The Maali' - Perth Zoo's premier functions and events centre - is now taking bookings for weddings, cocktail events, and corporate bookings.
The grand openings coincide with Perth Zoo's monumental 125th birthday, which is being celebrated with the Wild Lights lantern display, Wild About Babies sculptures, and a community birthday party on 14 and 15 October.
