On World Wildlife Day, let us give you a glimpse into how you're helping us save animals all over the globe!

Here at Perth Zoo, our animals act as important ambassadors for their wild cousins and help the next generation develop an appreciation for wildlife.

And thanks to the help of our local animal-lovers, we're also able to support programs nationally and internationally that make tangible positive changes for wildlife, habitats and local communities.

Despite being one of the most isolated zoos in the world, Perth Zoo is proud to have an impact on wildlife and wild places across Australia, Africa, Asia and beyond!

Here's just a snapshot:

In Madagascar, our partner Madagascar Fauna and Flora Group (MFG) are removing invasive plants within Betampona Natural Reserve and restoring the lemur habitats with native trees. More than 37,000 native trees were produced for planting in the MFG nursery!

In Zambia, our partner Painted Dog Conservation Inc. runs an anti-poaching patrol unit that actively protects wild dog packs and rescues African Painted Dogs who become trapped in snares in Africa. Plus, the team runs an education program that empowers local children to protect and conserve habitats.

In Nepal, our partner Red Panda Network run a Forest Guardians program which monitors red panda habitat, conducts anti-poaching patrols and carries out important community education about the species.

In Laos, our partner Free the Bears constructed a new accommodation unit which increases capacity for researchers and volunteers at the bear sanctuaries. This was critical for support when an unprecedented number of bear cubs were rescued from the illegal wildlife trade in early 2024.

In Papua New Guinea, as well as supporting wild tree kangaroo populations, our partner Tenkile Conservation Alliance have employed local women to carry out important data collection on local and largely unknown frog species. This project will unlock new invaluable information about local species and provide new data on the impacts of climate change.

And here's a message from our partners!

This is just a snapshot of the work being done for wildlife all over the world, none of it would be possible without you.
