Welcome to Perth Zoo

Let your creativity run wild with our fun craft activity!

We have the perfect weekend activity for curious and creative little monkeys - creating your own Numbat puppet!

What you will need:

  • Numbat stencil
  • Coloured pencils
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Hole Punch
  • 3 x pipe cleaners

Step 1

Download the Numbat stencil HERE and cut your pipe cleaners so you have one long piece and two shorter pieces.

Step 2

Fold the piece of card along the straight dotted line. Cut the folded piece of paper along the curved line. Make sure you are cutting both sides of the card. Place the discarded section of the stencil in the recycling bin.

Step 3

Glue the folded card along the curved edge, making sure all edges are joining together.

Step 4

Use your colouring pencils to colour the Numbats body and ears. Don't forget to add in the stripes!

Step 5

Now that your Numbat has some colour, use the hole punch to put three holes into the finger puppet for the legs and tail.

Step 6

Now to give your Numbat legs! Fold the three pipe cleaners in half, making sure to have one that is longer than the other two. Thread the long one through the tail hole and secure by twisting. Thread the two shorter pipe cleaners through the leg holes and secure by twisting to make the four legs.
