What's happening

Perth Zoo is widely known as a unique events and functions destination and can offer a host of amazing experiences. Thousands of visitors come to the Zoo not only to see the animals, but to be entertained by the many and varied events held in the Zoo’s spectacular setting.

Most of you would be familiar with that classic film, The Lion King. Simba the lion cub loses his dad, but eventually defeats his mean uncle and a “slow-witted” gang of hyaenas to become king. We know it’s a great story (with an amazing soundtrack), but there is one problem we have with it…hyaenas are completely misrepresented.

It’s National Volunteer Week and to celebrate we thought we’d tell you a bit more about a new addition to the Perth Zoo Docent (volunteer) Association – our new Animal Care program*, find out more from team leader, Katrina.
