Perth Zoo’s animals were all treat and no tricks today as they celebrated with some Halloween-themed enrichment.
Zoo keepers prepared food-filled jack-o-lanterns for a whole host of animals, including meerkats, rhinos, otters, Dibblers, Galapagos Tortoises, Red Pandas and more, adding a spooky twist to the Zoo’s regular enrichment program.
The enrichment engages the animals’ natural curiosity as they work to get to their favourite snacks.
They showed no fear in getting to the treats inside, though the greater fear is the threats that their wild relatives face, particularly Red Pandas.
They are an endangered species in their homeland of Nepal, but donations to Perth Zoo help fund panda protectors to keep their wild cousins safe.
The panda protector program is just one of the ways the Zoo is helping to save wildlife, and Halloween is a perfect time to give donations, rather than lollies, to support this important work.
