To celebrate Vet Nurse Day, here’s six words we think perfectly describe our incredible team of nurses.

Versatile

Our vet nurses are the ultimate jack of all trades – they’re anaesthetic monitors, surgical assistants, scrub nurses, infection control officers, administrators, nutritionists, teachers and so much more.
And what makes this even more impressive? They’re always prepared for any kind of animal, whether its furry, scaly or feathery.

Resilient

Nurses are there at some of the hardest moments, like when it’s time to say goodbye to a beloved animal.  But they’re strong, tough and get the job done before switching their focus to the next animal that needs their TLC.

Quirky

Vet nurse humor is something else – you’ve got to laugh when you’re bagging up yet another poo sample or having to clean a patient that’s spent hours rolling in mud.

Plus, they get super excited when they spot an animal (or even a human!) with a good juicy vein that looks primed for a blood draw –  trust us, it’s just a nurse thing.

Empathetic

Nurses really love their animals, they see them through some of the hardest times and will do everything possible to support them.
They prepare the warmest, coziest beds, try and hide medicine in the tastiest snacks and provide the sweetest touches to the hospital ward to give all patients a sense of comfort.

Organised

Honestly, they’re some of the most organised people you’ll ever meet. Before a procedure, particularly those that happen outside of the hospital and in zoo grounds, they think of absolutely EVERYTHING that might be needed. And they’re always be prepped with every minor piece of equipment.
Need a quick cable tie, extra syringe or sample pot? Yep, yep and yep, a nurse already thought of it and has got it.

Dedicated

Our nurses truly give their all to their patients. In their eyes, the animals always come first and they’ll stop at nothing to make sure healthcare is stress-free.
Plus, they’re also quick to raise their hands to help out beyond our gates in times of bushfires, whale strandings, natural disasters and more.

Our vet nurses are superheroes. And while the animals can’t say thank you, we can ❤
