Here at Perth Zoo, we’re proud to take part in the movement every single day through hands-on conservation and sustainable practices that make a real difference. 

Here’s a snapshot of how we’re doing our bit:  

• Our recycling program helps reduce landfill and turns everyday waste into enrichment tools for animals. 

• With solar panels installed throughout the Zoo, we have significantly reduced our reliance on non-renewable energy sources. We use the solar electricity generated on site to power our energy needs here at the Zoo. 

• We proudly participate in the Containers for Change scheme, and with our visitors, we’ve recycled more than 39,000 containers AND raised nearly $4,000 which will go towards supporting our conservation partners around the globe. 
  
  And here’s a few easy ways you can do your bit on your next visit! 

• Pack your reusable coffee cup and water bottle, our water refill stations make it easy to stay hydrated sustainably. Hot tip: If you forget, we have reusable Perth Zoo branded water bottles available for purchase in the Zoo Shop.
  
  

• Consider walking, cycling or taking public transport when visiting. 

• Make sure you use the recycling bins around the Zoo and donate your 10c containers to Perth Zoo’s Containers for Change scheme to help us help wildlife.  
  
  
  
  How does it work? 
  It's easy! 

  Step 1. Collect your 10¢ eligible containers. Don't know what's eligible? Check out what you can return here. 

  Step 2. Choose how you return your 10¢ containers - from Depots and Self-serve Kiosks to Drop & Go stations. Find the best way for you here. 

  Step 3. Provide Perth Zoo scheme ID: C10277425.  

  This will ensure your returned 10¢ containers are helping Perth Zoo safe wildlife!
