Welcome to Perth Zoo

Komodo Survival Program works to ensure the survival of ‘the last dragon on earth’, by working with local communities in Komodo village to learn about Komodo Dragon conservation and habitats to empower those closest to this species to protect them.

These awareness programs are vital for the protection of this iconic and endangered species, foster a deep understanding of the importance of Komodo Dragons, and the threats they face.

With our support, the Komodo Survival Program team run school-based education, community outreach and workshops to highlight the risks climate change, illegal hunting and habitat destruction can have holistically on people, wildlife, and the environment.

They also work to build capacity in local communities, engaging people in sustainable eco-tourism initiatives, minimising the impact of tourism on Komodo habitat.

Through the Perth Zoo Wildlife Conservation Action Program we want to ensure the dedicated Komodo Survival Program team can continue their work for this species, the habitat they reside in, and the people who live near them.
