Get a Ride
For further information on Transperth timetables and prices please call Transperth information on 13 62 13 or visit transperth.wa.gov.au and use “Perth Zoo” as a destination or departure landmark.
Routes 30 & 31 run between Wellington Street and Elizabeth Quay Bus Station/s and Perth Zoo’s entrance [stop #11847]. Buses on these routes are low-floor/accessible.
We recommend Elizabeth Quay for the fastest journey between the BusPort and the Zoo (4 mins).
Get off at Elizabeth Quay Train Station and transfer to the Elizabeth Quay BusPort (next door) to catch Bus 30 or 31.
Midland, Armadale, Thornlie & Fremantle lines – transfer at Perth Underground to Mandurah line and travel one stop to Elizabeth Quay Station.
Ferries depart from Barrack Street Jetty (Perth CBD) every 30 minutes daily and every 15 minutes at peak times and take about 10 minutes to get across the river.
Perth Zoo is a 500m walk from the Mends Street Jetty (South Perth) via shops and restaurants.
The City of South Perth has commenced works to create a vibrant connection from Perth City to South Perth, so there will be some changes along the foreshore, particularly around the ferry terminal. However, don’t be put off, we’re still just a hop, skip and a jump away. Simply follow the signage and stroll up Mends Streets and through Windsor Park for a wild day at Perth Zoo.
Tell your driver to take you to “Perth Zoo”. They’ll drop you right at the Zoo entrance. (If they need a street address, it’s 20 Labouchere Road, South Perth).
Drive Yourself and Parking
The Zoo is only a five-minute drive from Perth’s city centre. Take the Mill Point Road freeway exit-ramp from both the north and south direction.
There is a range of paid, timed parking around Perth Zoo. Click here for more information on parking options.
BYO & Chartered Bus: The safest way to drop students off is to enter the carpark off Mill Point Road and drive along the access road (10km/hr) and pull into a temporary bus bay to unload. Charter buses can then proceed to exit onto Labouchere Road and BYO buses can circle the block and park in the (free, limited) bus parking in the Mill Point Road parking area.
By Bicycle, Scooter, Blades or on Foot
Safe, dual-use paths (cycle and walking) circle the Swan River from the CBD to South Perth and then it is only 500m from the river up to Perth Zoo.
This site provides maps and information on the network of cycle/walking paths which will get you to and from Perth Zoo (you will need to zoom in to see the pathways clearly).
Free bicycle racks are available just outside the Zoo. We recommend a lock for your bicycle since it’s a busy, public place. (Please note that you cannot take your bicycle, rollerblades, skateboard or other forms of personal transport into Perth Zoo)
